College Play 2009: Once Upon A Christmas

Finally!

Yes, finally my college's Xmas play has come to an end last night. Phew! I felt as if a huge burden has been released off my shoulder. I am sure everyone involved in the play will feel so too.

My friends and I have been going through hectic weeks just because of this. Do you guys have any idea how tiring it was?

We have been doing our props weeks ago, rehearsing for our play as frequent as we can and just a day before the play, we even stayed back in college till night to decorate the Gallery!

The process were oh-so tiring, seriously! But yeah, it was quite fun doing them too actually.
And FYI, I was sick and still feeling sick right now.

2-3 days ago, I can hardly talk, no thanks to having sore throat. And my flu, gee. My nose was running like an opened tap, literally! Then, I had headache and felt so weak throughout the period when I am not feeling well.

Guess what? I was so worried that my sickness will be affecting my group's play, specifically my Mr. Candle role. Luckily, the lord has mercy upon my soul and I managed to pull it through.

Not surprisingly, everyone were even busier than ever on the day when the play was staged, from setting up props, testing the PA system to doing last minute rehearsal and making up.

So, the play started around 6pm, not long after the audience filled up the place. And yes, thanks to those who came and support! Thank you very much! I hope you guys who have attended the play enjoyed the show we performed.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to witness Penguin's group play as I was asked by someone to do certain thing. Sucked right? I know.

But I am sure they did well and knowing that Penguin won the 'Best Actress' award for the play proves it. And besides, I saw their rehearsal the night before the play, so I pretty much knew how it goes.

As for my group, we performed last. Some plans we thought of before this didn't go as planned and the audio part was messed up a little, nevertheless, we did our best by performing our very best!

We were undeniably nervous back then as I felt both my legs were shaking when I was on the stage and I tried hard not to!

After the play has ended, everyone was giving a sigh of relief. Then, I was told that the audience like the props we've made as they were colorful and nice. The even better news is that they enjoyed our performance too!

Now, I am sure my group and I are glad to hear that! And that's exactly what we wanna hear. Who doesn't like compliments, right? Good job to my group members!

P/S: More pictures to be uploaded soon. Stay tuned! lol

2012: We were warned

So my family and I shopped and watched 2012 last night in MV and stayed overnight @ Gardens Hotel.

I must say the movie was nice, thanks to the cool CG effects which made the whole thing looked realistic. Thumbs up!

Unfortunately, limited resources means only limited people will be saved from the natural disaster. In the movie, the viewers will come to realize that it wasn't the fittest that will survive the apocalyptic event, but instead, it was a group of rich , famous and powerful people.

In other words, to those who wish to save themselves before Mother Nature gives up on us and when the world falls apart, they will have to pay for their ticket to survival - into gigantic arks, that is.

I find the protagonist's adventure to save his family and some random people he met along the way interesting to watch.

One thing though. It sure seems like Lady Luck is beside the protagonist all the time as he managed to escape from death- from falling down into the crack below and from being hit by the rain of volcanic rocks. Sounds impossible? Well, I will leave that to you to decide.

And the part involving the arks is equally interesting. I was and am still wondering if they really have build or are building them now in real life to prepare for the worse, just like in the movie.

On a second thought, we might never know even if they are indeed building them, actually. Just imagine the consequences if news like this is told to the public. They will be panicked and chaos will befall the humankind even before 2012 occurs!

The question now is, could 21-12-12 really be the day the world ends? Or will it just be a similar case of "Y2K" back in 2000? Let's hope it is the latter!

Desperate Housewife?

Once again, there's another case of a neighbor's house being broken into and robbed!

However, I didn't know there are more to that unfortunate incident. Now, you must be wondering what do I mean by that. Well, guess what? Here's the latest goss
I got.

Lily's husband passed away not long after the couple shifted to the neighborhood. It was during that period of time, L was seen talking to May's husband before she found herself another boyfriend.

Question is, could L and M's husband chit-chat, by any means, a form of neighborly communication? Or could it be something more to that? From what I heard, M thinks that L was flirting with her husband and wanted to tackle him.

Still, no evidence whatsoever supported the claim and therefore, I just took it with a pinch of salt. Don't you think this whole thing is like something that can be seen and found in "Desperate Housewives"? Well, I sure can't help it but to feel that way!

So, M's insecurity and jealousy got the better of her when she saw L has been chatting with her husband. And word has it that M confronted L after that. Why isn't that surprising at all?

Anyway, I suppose the two neighbors didn't talk to each other anymore since then. I mean, it will only lead to more cat fights if L is still seen talking to M's husband, right?

And when L's house got broken into and robbed yesterday, M was there and she saw the bad guys forcing themselves into the house. However, she did not and chose to not call the police even when she had adequate time to do so before the robbers finish ransacking the house and leave the scene.

In fact, M just watched and pretended that she didn't witness it. From this, it's obvious
that M has not let go of her hatred towards L due to that past incident!

Poor L. Her house gate was left opened the whole day and night and she didn't seem to know about it as she wasn't in the house. Luckily, my immediate neighbor contacted L's parents to go to the scene last night to inspect and they arrived shortly.

P/S: Lily and May are fictional names created to protect their real identity.

Of Props Making & Full Dress Rehearsal

Yesterday has been a tiring day, just like how I expected it to be.

So, I had both my lunch and dinner from CS. I mean, you just have to grab the food you want, pay at the counter and leave, simple. It sure saves us time as we don't have to wait for our food to be served!

We were really, friggin' busy the whole afternoon in a vacant classroom, attending to props making + brief rehearsal and evening were then spent at the Gallery for full dress rehearsal.

I must say the brief rehearsal for Beauty and the Beast was funny. Why, you ask? Well, the "Beast" was talking about his dirty bicep joke, that's why! Perhaps it's time to change the play's name to "Beauty and the Horny Beast"! lol

BTW, I enjoyed doing the props, though they are time-consuming, leaving mess along the way and unfortunately, a small cut on my index finger! It has been a long time since I last get myself involved in this art and craft thing.

And yeah, we could really use a bigger stage, like seriously. I mean, the current Gallery stage isn't that big. After putting up the props on one side of the stage and let down the projector screen on the other, the stage looked cramped and even smaller. Now, that only mean one thing: limited space for movement.
><

Nevertheless, the full dress-with-props rehearsal went smoothly and we managed to experience acting on the Gallery for the first time. The problem of figuring out the positioning of props and characters were also solved now that we already determine the layout of the stage.

I sure can't wait for the day of the play to come and get it over with. Not that I don't like to be acting in a play (which I really do like very much, FYI), but all of us will have to rush to complete our other assignments after the day of the Xmas play! That's why I wish I can get the play over with fast!

For those who are interested in going to the Xmas play which will be staged in my college on 3rd December (Thursday), please contact me!

Busy, busy, busy!!!

It's a busy week and it's gonna last till the middle of December!

So Xmas play will be staged on next Wednesday evening at my college and hence, we are having our rehearsal almost everyday of the week lately.

Good thing is that the props and SFX are almost done. And my group and I will have to stay back almost for the whole day later (approximately 12 hours) for a full dress rehearsal. ><

Besides the play, I am occupied with 4 assignments and meeting deadlines, all of which are coming pretty soon. Hopefully I can cope with the approaching stress that I will be getting from doing those assignments!

Amen!

It's A Cold, Cold Monday

Brrrrrrrrr...

The title says it all.

It was raining the whole day. Well, almost the whole day. And the sky was dark and gloomy the whole morning till evening too. It was as if the Sun didn't come out at all!

Oh well, it's rainy season now and that means we should be expecting more rainy days ahead. I sure hope the rain will only fall during the night so to not interfere with any outdoor activities during the day. I mean, it is so inconvenient when it rains during the day!

So, today few of my friends and I went to Simply Fusion cafe (which is a cozy and nicely decorated cafe by the way) to have our lunch. It was my first time having my meal there and I had this Tempura & Black Pepper fish with chips.

Now, I would say it was nice, if not as delicious as the one in Tappers Cafe.
It definitely lose to Manhattan Fish Market's standard. But yeah, it will be totally unfair to compare Simply Fusion cafe (which also serves variety of food besides fish and chips) to a specialized restaurant that sells delicious fish and chips!

I Am Sick & Tired of It

Nothing special in or outside college this week except a thing or two.

Well, something happened few days ago and I wasn't quite in a good mood because of it. But yeah, I won't go in depth on that here. What I have been wanting to say had been said. I made my point clear. It's time to forget now.

Besides that, I am also feeling a little irritated by certain people's lackadaisical attitude. Imagine this. The person who made you feel excited to do something is also the one who crushes that very excitement and ruin the spirit.

And apparently, it seems like I am not the only one feeling this way. Problems like this often happen and the more I think of it, the more I gave up helping those people.

And when I gave up helping, they might in turn say that I am the one who don't seem to care. But did they actually notice and understand why I don't seem to give a damn anymore?

In fact, the answer lies in them, that is if they actually bother to accept it as a fact! I was the one who was willingly to help. I was the one who was doing my part. I was the one who did all my best. But how about them?

Why didn't I seem to see some effort in them? What's with those words and no actions? What's with those excuses and lack of sense of priority? What's with the 'yes' on one day and 'no' the next day? What's with the excitement and spirit you seemed to exhibit? Was that just a show? Was that even real? I mean, was that even you?

Okay. I guess it's enough with the ranting. That's all for tonight.

Signing off.

WTF?!!

Neighbor's house got broken in, again!

I didn't know it happened, not until Sara's mum called, that is.

The thing was, I just woke up from my sleep and headed to the bathroom and started brushing my teeth when the phone rang. Then Sara's mum asked me to get out of the house quick to have a look at my immediate neighbor's house.

So, without further delay,
I went out and opened the door, with my toothbrush still on my hand and spotted with a toothpaste-covered mouth. Sara's mum was coming out from her house too not long after ending our call.

Well, I was like "Never mind the embarrassing moment of going out of the house looking messy and with my hair not combed."

Yes. Indeed, my neighbor's house got broken in. For the 6th time now! This time, the whole gate came out from its structure, which was not the case previously.

It sure seems like those robbers have different ways of breaking into people's house each time they commit the evil deed. If only they use their "creativity" in a good way!

Fortunately, the robbers' attempt to break into my neighbor's house failed as they can't open the door into the house despite managed to do so to the gate. It was suspected that those robbers were after the gas cylinder that my neighbor placed at the porch.

Updates

Well, time flies and it's Thursday again!

So my fellow blog readers, I'll fill you guys with some updates on what's happening in and out of college life this week.

Updates #1:

Last night, I had experienced a 3 hours long blackout, which only ended about 1:30AM after the electrician came over and fix the wiring thing.

One thing I hate about yesterday's blackout was the mosquitoes which came out from the dark to attack us. How I wish the mosquito species is totally eliminated, for good!

Not only that, I felt so disconnected from the outside world when the electricity went off just like that. Worse still, I was in the middle of a conversation in Messenger when the blackout occurred. What more can be irritating then to have your conversation interrupted halfway?

Updates #2:

Bad news.

My class' Xmas play will be on 3rd December. That means we only have a month (or less) left for our rehearsal!

Why is the play so early?! OMFG!!!

And my group and I initially thought we have 13 weeks for our rehearsal. Now, I'm afraid that is not the case anymore.

Script editing is not done yet. Song list is not done yet. Props are on the way, soon. As for publicity, I haven't get the news from anyone. All this added up sure doesn't make me feel at ease.

To top things up, we also have several individual and group assignments of other subjects waiting for us to finish, all of which are due either this month or the next!

Gee. It's a busy period of time for me right now. Hopefully everything goes well as planned.

Updates #3:

I was invited by M to MIFA Fashion Week 2009!!!

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it. Blame it on transportation problem! If I were to go, I will have to find a solution to get back, which obviously I can't seemed to find. Or else, I would've been attending and witnessing the fashion show by now already.

It was such a waste, man. Really. Do you know I wanted to go to that fashion show so much?! Like very, very much!!!
